Why is this important?

Many resources are known by both their full name and an abbreviation. Recording both improves discovery and reduces ambiguity when researchers search for your resource.

FAIR: Supports Findability by improving the discoverability of your resource using commonly recognised names and abbreviations.

The abbreviation is optional for all FAIRsharing records.
