# Cross References

**Why is this important?**

Cross references connect your resource to descriptions held in other registries, catalogues and community resources. They help users navigate between complementary sources of information and place your resource within the broader landscape of research infrastructure.

**FAIR:** Supports **Interoperability** by providing qualified links between FAIRsharing and other trusted information sources, improving connectivity across the research ecosystem.

**Cross References** is a section within the "Additional Information" tab applicable to our **standards** and **database** registries only

FAIRsharing supports a selection of cross references to other resources. If your resource has an equivalent unique identifier in one of these resources, you can add it in this section. Currently supported cross references are:

* AgroPortal
* BioPortal
* OBO Foundry
* Ontology Lookup Service (OLS)
* re3data
* SciCrunch

If you would like to add a cross reference that isn't on this list, there is an "Other" option.
