# Associated Tools

{% hint style="info" %}
**Associated Tools** is a section within the "Additional Information" tab applicable to our **standards**, **database**, and **fairassist** registries only
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}
Associated tools are optional for standards, databases and metrics.

*Please also see the general information regarding our* [*minimal curation requirements*](/fairsharing/record-sections-and-fields/how-to-update-a-record.md#minimal-curation-requirements)*.*
{% endhint %}

If your resource has a standalone tool that is designed around your resource, you can showcase it here. This will help your users understand the various libraries and software that support your resource. Please note that if it is an integrated part of your site (e.g. BLAST or some other kind of algorithmic analysis of data) and not a standalone tool (either on its own website or as a downloadable library, for example), you should instead categorise it as a [data process](/fairsharing/additional-information/data-processes.md).

The fields for the Associated Tools are very simple: a **URL** to point to the homepage of the tool, and a descriptive **name** for the tool itself.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://fairsharing.gitbook.io/fairsharing/additional-information/associated-tools.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
