# Importing ROR Organisations If your organisation is in ROR, you may import its metadata rather than entering its information manually. Full details of how to do this are also provided in our [blog post](https://blog.fairsharing.org/?p=385). To import from ROR, begin by typing its name into search box as shown in Figure 1 below. Then press the button “IMPORT FROM ROR” and select from a list of matching ROR organisations as shown in Figure 2.

Once an organisation is selected, the ROR metadata fields are automatically populated within FAIRsharing (Figure 3). Click on "SAVE NEW ORGANISATION". Once this step is complete, you will be prompted to provide the [type of relationship](/fairsharing/record-sections-and-fields/organisations-and-grants/organisation-role.md) your record has to this organisation.

If your search does not return any ROR organisation, you will get an error message as displayed in Figure 4. If this is the case, then please continue directly to the [next section](/fairsharing/record-sections-and-fields/organisations-and-grants/name.md) to create a FAIRsharing organisation without a mapping to ROR. This and the following sections provide instructions on how to add organisation metadata on a field-by-field basis.
